The Senseca AEOLUS-3 is a 3-axis ultrasonic anemometer designed for precise wind monitoring under a wide range of environmental conditions. It is particularly suitable for wind farm monitoring, Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), monitoring of buildings, structures and bridges, ports, airports, heliports, and road and railway tunnels.

In addition to wind speed and direction, the AEOLUS-3 measures the U-V-W Cartesian wind components and Wind Gust values. Its three-axis measurement principle enables simultaneous monitoring of both horizontal and vertical components of airflow.

The instrument features an integrated heating system that protects the entire detection area, including the sensors, arms, and arm supports, against snow accumulation and ice formation. This supports accurate and reliable measurements even under demanding winter and severe weather conditions.

The housing is manufactured from AISI 316 stainless steel, providing high corrosion resistance and mechanical durability for use in harsh outdoor and industrial environments.

The AEOLUS-3 also integrates a barometric pressure sensor, allowing additional monitoring of atmospheric conditions.

For integration with monitoring and automation systems, the instrument provides isolated RS232, RS485, and RS422 outputs supporting NMEA, Modbus-RTU, and proprietary ASCII communication protocols. An isolated SDI-12 output is also available.

The anemometer provides three analog outputs, which can be used for wind speed and direction or for the U-V-W Cartesian wind components, depending on the selected model and configuration.

The AEOLUS-3 complies with the requirements of the following standards:

  • MIL-STD-810G Method 509.6 and EN ISO 9227:2017 – salt fog and corrosion resistance testing;
  • MIL-STD-810F Method 521.2 – anti-icing and freezing rain testing;
  • EN 60068-2-6:2008 / IEC 60068-2-6:2007 – vibration resistance testing.

The instrument is supplied with PC software for configuration and real-time display of measurement data.

All sensors integrated into the AEOLUS-3 are factory calibrated and do not require additional calibration intervention by the user before operation.
