nemi WAMS Bridge – Battery-Powered 4G Gateway for Long-Range Wireless Sensor Networks
nemi WAMS Bridge
nemi WAMS Bridge is a battery-powered 4G gateway and the central communication unit of i4M’s Wireless Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS). It is designed for applications that require large spatial coverage, very low energy consumption, and long battery runtimes, rather than high data rates.
The gateway receives measurement data from up to 30 wireless sensor nodes in a star topology via the proprietary nemi Link 868 long-range radio technology. With transmission distances of up to 1000 m, nemi WAMS Bridge enables reliable monitoring of widely distributed measuring points on large assets and structures.
Collected data are transmitted to a central server via a secured 4G cellular connection using the energy-efficient NB-IoT protocol. In addition to forwarding raw measurement data, nemi WAMS Bridge supports edge computing, allowing the transmission of pre-evaluated smart data via MQTT streams, significantly reducing communication volume and power consumption.
Thanks to its completely wireless design, powered by an external battery or solar panel, and its robust, weatherproof IP67 enclosure, nemi WAMS Bridge can be installed easily even in hard-to-access outdoor locations. Typical applications include crack and climate monitoring on bridges, structural health monitoring, and long-term temperature monitoring of rolling bearings in large industrial facilities.
